Clive Tonge -

Is an effects animator and digital film maker.
Works with community groups, universities, computer games companies and professional film makers.
Is artist in residence at streetwise.
Has had work shown in many festivals, cinemas and on T.V.

The artist will be working with many of the different teams within Streetwise to produce a range of products. For example, with the councelling team, the artist will help in the production of a set of audio/visual pieces designed to relax clients. These will include more traditional relaxation scenes of countryside, nature and beaches but will also include elements created digitally by the artist. This has been provisionally titled the 'Digital Lava Lamp'. Another part of the project is the creation of a Digital Fishtank - a projected work that will transform the waiting room at Streetwise...

The Digital Fishtank.

Waiting rooms are boring. All we can do is wait between one thing and the next. Nothing to do. Nowhere to go. Just waiting. Medical waiting rooms are worse. They're scary as well as boring - full of gloomy medical posters, old magazines and fake plants. Fish tanks are sometimes placed into waiting rooms to provide a focal point for the 'waiters'. A constantly moving, unpredictable visual to help people relax. At Streetwise we are in the process of creating the worlds first DIGITAL FISHTANK. There will be no fish involved at all. There's only so much one can gain from staring at fish. Our Fishtank will be a looped, constantly evolving, ever changing screen display showing work done by clients, staff and the artist in residence. It will be updated regularly and will contain humour, education, info regarding forthcoming events, C-card info, useful numbers, animations, posters, short films - in short anything goes. The Digital Fishtank will truly reflect the nature of the drop in allowing lots of separate and distinct elements to come together to form a unique whole. Waiting was never this good!
