Françoise Rod / Madeleine Doré

Mobile Sources

(FR/CA)

Tadlachance are the duo Françoise Rod and Madeleine Doré based near Marseilles. They have worked together since 2002 creating temporary installations, interventions and art happenings in public spaces. Tadlachance have worked across France, Italy, Switzerland, Quebec, Turkey, Korea, Bulgaria and Ireland. They obtained funding by Pro Helvetia in order to create Itinérance aux frontières - an itinerant project on the borders of Switzerland, by the Roberto Cimetta Founds for Her'berium a transgernminal language in Turkey, by the council of Quebec for the project ‘d'ici là où vers toi’ in Quebec and by the Mary Luis charity trust for the European project Sources and resources.

Their collaborative practice revolves around their mobility; they travel indirectly, in a roundabout way using chance, coincidence, luck. The projects they work on are not shows but devices, activation of process. It is an art of adaptation to the contexts, to the changes, all is not foreseen, nor framed. Tadlachance often work with the unexpected, the unused to create reflexive spaces that offer opportunities to perceive daily life differently. Rivers and sources feature heavily in their work, with the characteristics of water; flux, constant change and perpetual movement presenting themselves as metaphors within their work.

While at the Nomadic Village Rod and Doré will work on a project called ‘Mobile Sources’, which begun in Southern France in 2009 using sources to fountains to Holy wells. During the Nomadic Village they will build a mobile structure to house a new source, linking people to nearby holy wells and other springs.
