ISIS Arts Press Release: 06.06.2011

Young Artists awarded Prestigious International Invitation

Two Newcastle based artists working with ISIS Arts have been awarded prestigious places at the 17th Asia Europe Foundation University in Penang, Malaysia from 20th June – 1st July 2011.

Charlotte Gregory will be the only UK representative and Kuba Ryniewicz, a polish artist currently living and working in Newcastle will represent Poland. Both are currently working with ISIS Arts on their international programme, which creates opportunities for artists from diverse backgrounds through residencies and commissions.

The ASEF University is a 2 week programme that aims to promote cross cultural exchanges among youth from the 46 Asian and European countries that make up the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) member states.

The two week programme offers opportunities for up to 46 outstanding undergraduate, and graduate students as well as young professionals, to explore current issues in various fields through a programme of lecture, workshops, field visits and other highly interactive activities.

ISIS Arts is delighted that these two talented individuals will take part in this extraordinary international opportunity. Co-director Sharon Bailey commented, “This is a wonderful opportunity to both Charlotte and Kuba, and we are delighted that ISIS will be represented by them in flying the flag for the whole of the UK and northern Europe. I am sure it will really stretch them and grow their development to mix with so many other creative young people from around the world.”

ISIS Arts is a visual and media arts organisation, that supports artists to facilitate international and inter-cultural exchange, support and promote diversity and engage as wide an audience as possible in dialogue with artists and contemporary art.
