Past and Future ISIS residency artists feature in great events this summer...
Laura Harrington and Kaffe Matthews were in residence with us in Sept 2011, while they were here they carried out research for their project, 'Where are the Wild Ones?', focusing on the the extraordinary, yet little understood, journey that Atlantic salmon make each year from Greenland to the River North Tyne. Laura and Kaffe are now mid way through the project and will celebrate with a mulit-layerd acoustic and visual performance at The Guildhall, Newcastle as part of the NewcastleGateshead Bridges Festival on Saturday 4th August. Read more about their salmon inspired performance and work here.
We are pretty excited that Kelly Richardson will be in residence with us this September as an artist/curator. At the moment Kelly is working on the fantastic Mariner 9, a giant video art installation inside Whitley Bay's historic Spanish City Dome. The 12m long panorama shows planet Mars set hundreds of years in the future. You can catch it from this Friday 3rd till Sunday 19th August.
Sounds like a hot summer!
