We have run many successful mentoring schemes for self employed artists wanting to work within the formal education setting.
'Fortemis' gave experience to artists with limited experience of working in schools the chance to work with more experienced artists in a 'safe' and controlled environment. We worked in partnership with the Forge and had funding from the European Social Fund, brokered through One North East and Arts Council NE.
'Focus' was aimed specifically at Film Makers wanting to work in Schools and was funded by Northern Film and Media.
This led on to an Advanced Film Makers Scheme working in partnership with Custombuilt and Marden High School.
We have also run Advanced Mentoring Schemes for Artists with experience of working in Schools who want to broaden their practice. These have looked specifically at working in Early Years and Special Schools.
"It was great to work on a project where the emphasis was on the creative
process and the use of imagination. I felt it freed me up as an artist to learn
from mistakes and to take more risks in the approach to teaching film making."
Andrew Coats, Film Maker.
