HOME is a major project that reflects upon all our origins. The project is comprised of two exhibitions, one at the Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead (open 18th September to 7th November 2004) and an installation at Bessie Surtees House, Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne from the 13th - 23rd December 2004.
The Schools residency programme was led by Farhad Ahrarnia, with visual artist Jyl Friggens, writers Pauline Plummer and Julie Ward and filmmaker Emily Barber. This took place within Abingdon Primary School, Middlesbrough, Battle Hill Primary School, North Tyneside, Berwick Middle School, Berwick Upon Tweed and Valley Road Primary School, Sunderland. Thank you to all pupils, teachers and helpers that participated.
A Conference for young people will be held at Caedmon Hall, Gateshead Library on October 8th where an invited audience will be asked: “Who do you think you are?
Three writers, Keith Jeffrey, Anne-Marie Copestake and Pauline Plummer have been commissioned to write short stories about HOME. These will be published later in the year.
