AT HOME IN EUROPE

At Home in Europe was a year-long media arts project addressing European identity (2007). It started as a project between ISIS Arts, Newcastle Upon Tyne, (UK), BEK, Bergen, (Norway); Rixc, Riga, (Latvia) and Interspace, Sofia, (Bulgaria) and facilitated the movement and exchange of artists and media art in four very different European countries. The project was extended to include a Polish artist residency.

The programme included transnational residencies, a touring screening programme and a publication. Artists selected and works produced all look at what it means to be European and what it means to have a particular nationality in the light of the shifting boundaries within Europe. Daily more and more European people decide to live in other European countries. With a shifting concept of nationalities it becomes increasingly important to consider what it means to be European.

At ISIS Arts, two artists developed new projects: Tomasz Bajer Border Crossing and Borjana Ventzislavova We shall overswim.

ISIS Arts was the lead organisation in this Culture 2000 funded project working with partners BEK (Norway), InterSpace (Bulgaria) and RIXC (Latvia).
