Clymene Christoforou Executive Co-Director and Board Member

Clymene is a director and founder member of ISIS Arts; she is responsible for company and programme development. Clymene has a particular interest in international collaboration, and projects which provide an international platform for local engagement.

In 2007 Clymene was awarded a NESTA International Cultural Leadership Fellowship with placements in Brussels and India. Since this fellowship, Clymene has been elected onto the board of Culture Action Europe based in Brussels furthering her arts advocacy work with regional and national fora.

Sharon Bailey Executive Co-Director and Board Member

Sharon is an artist and has many years of arts development, management and co-ordination experience with specialist knowledge of visual and media arts practice.

She is a founder member and Director of ISIS Arts where she oversees programme development and initiates projects with a range of regional and international partners.

She is committed to socially engaged practice and is a successful freelance photographer best known for her work with older people and migrant groups. She has carried out many commissions and residencies in the region and has published two books.

Pauline Beaumont Chair of Board

Pauline has worked in the arts and culture as a practitioner, a funder and as a policy maker. Until March 2009 she was Chief Executive of Culture North East, the regional cultural consortium and sat on the National Advisory Board for The Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

Before this Pauline was Head of Resource Development at Arts Council England North East and has been both a local authority Arts Officer and a member of a Community Arts collective.

As Visiting Fellow "Culture and the Creative Economy " at Newcastle University Business School, Pauline is working on new business models for arts organisations and the implications for them of changing contexts of funding, governance and patterns of cultural consumption.

Pauline is also the Chair of balletLORENT, a contemporary dance company based in Newcastle.

Claire Byers Board Member

As Deputy Director for BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Claire Byers has specific responsibility for leading the strategic development of BALTIC through external relations, brand development and communications; development and fundraising; trading and public facing activities (e.g. restaurant, café, retail, corporate and private hires).

Claire is well connected in creative, cultural and design circles at regional, national and international levels, is recognized for her knowledge and championship of the creative sector and is also a respected voice in developing service excellence and innovation in service based environments.

Claire is a partner in a large independent firm of chartered accountants. She has experience of managing staff, budgets and deadlines whilst meeting client expectations in a commercial environment. Claire is a keen supporter of the arts and sings with Newcastle Bach Choir.

Alex Craig Board Member

Alex Craig is a partner at Muckle LLP and sits on the board of directors of ISIS Arts. She advises on all aspects of intellectual property and information technology law and deals with a range of contractual issues for suppliers and customers. Alex assists organisations that are looking to engage in research and development projects or who are implementing new technologies in their business and advises on protection, maintenance, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property. With Alex's intellectual property knowledge, she is frequently involved in supporting creative industry both in terms of training and in assisting in the protection of their intellectual property assets. Alex also sits on the board of AVANE.

Margie Clay Company Administrator

Margaret Clay (Margie) has been with ISIS since 2000 supporting the ISIS team as company administrator. Margaret is responsible for administrative support to all ISIS staff, which includes finances, contracts, media training arrangements, CRB disclosure checks, database updates and maintenance and general office duties.

Margaret has been married to Steve for over 25 years and has two daughters Amielee and Catherine. In her spare time Margaret enjoys reading, listening to a variety of music and enjoys playing the fiddle and is also trying to master the Irish whistle.

Charlotte Gregory Project Co-ordinator

Charlotte is a visual artist who graduated from Newcastle University in June 2009. Charlotte's practise is related to the industrial heritage of the region, focusing on different ways to map place through social and historical elements, tracing an interface between people and their environments. Charlotte has worked with ISIS since October 2008 through a series of student and graduate placements, now taking on a role in project development, coordination and production.

Ziad Jabero Virtual Export Manager

Ziad Jabero is ISIS's Virtual Export Manager, a role funded through UKTI to develop our work internationally.

Ziad Jabero studied English and history at Northumbria university and then began working as a professional musician with the internationally acclaimed band The Baghdaddies.

He is the bookings manager for the Baghdaddies and has programmed and managed festivals and events, such as the Newcastle Winter Festival and Newcastle Streets Alive Festival. He has previously worked with ISIS Arts as Big M crew member, Big M management and production assistant for ISIS Arts’ delivery of the Indian Art works for the Enlightenment Festival.

Ziad is developing future opportunities for The Big M and our wider programme and in the initial 6 month will be focusing on new markets in Sweden and Slovakia.

Marek Gabrysch is a musician, artist and technical manager for The Big M.

Marek has worked with ISIS for over 10 years, developing both content and the technical capacity of our inflatable touring space. Marek has led a number of european tours, supporting the development of many varied, international partnerships.

Michelle Hirschhorn Freelance Curator & Producer

Michelle Hirschhorn a Newcastle-based independent curator and creative producer who initiates and manages solo and collaborative projects and events in gallery, site-specific and festival contexts, often in association with regional, national and international partners. She is interested in cross disciplinary practice, working mainly across visual art, digital media, live art/peformance, moving image and sound. Selected projects include FutureEverything 10, AV Festival 08, navigate, Platform North East, connecting principle, The Big M and Zone Gallery.
